Panama Canal
Today we spent most of the day in the forward lounger at Ching the crossing. We arose early so we could get a place in the lounge. We found a good seat, then later we realized the deck outside would be full of people and we’d miss it all. We kept our seats and took turns going outside. It was very hot so we couldn’t stay outside too long. We finished the Gatun locks, the first set of locks. There are 3 locks in the set. It took a couple hours to get through them.
I woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and a cough. So I went back to the room to rest. We had a light lunch in the buffet. We sat with the photography teacher and another couple. Nice people. It was back to the lounge at 1:30 to watch the ship go through the second set of locks. We decided to go back to the room and watch the third set on the Bridge Camera. As we passed through the last set of locks, we were greeted by a horde of people at the visitors center cheering for us. We waved back. It was all an exciting experience. I had been through the first set but Bunny hadn’t ever been.
We went to the photo seminar at 4:30 and learned how to edit pix on our phones. We have homework! We have to practice before the next class. We came back to the room where Bunny did her homework and I tried to sleep. We went to buffet again for dinner and then back to the room. I didn’t feel like going to the performance this evening. We watched a documentary on the Horn and Hardhart Automats. Really interesting. Enjoy our photos of the crossing./
Tomorrow another busy day at sea!
