Bora Bora

We had a busy day on the island. We had a Le Truck tour, which was a truck with plastic seats. We drove around the island on the only road, which was built by the US in the 1940’s. We stopped at a few places along the way, one was Bloody Mary’s bar. It has been closed but has a small bar for beer and soda , a restroom, and a gift shop selling tee shirts. We made a stop at a place where they showed us how they made tie dyed clothes. Of course I had to buy something-not a sarong but a pullover top that will be a bathing suit cover up at home. We also had a couple photo stops. One was at the main public beach. It was beautiful. I picked up some coral on the beach and some sand.

After the tour we walked a ways away from the pier and found a little cafe full of tourists. We each had a panini and fries.. By the time we finished, we had to walk back to the pier to get our scenic cruise. We got on a boat painted to look like an outrigger canoe. We had a beautiful ride around the lagoon, past some really exclusive bungalows built over the water. We heard it costs thousands a night to stay there. Pretty cool. The boat ride was a great way to cool off. Our boat driver and his helper sang, played the ukulele and a bongo drum. We saw a sting ray and a small shark. We got back in time to get one of the last tenders back to the ship. I was so hot and sticky, the only way I could cool off was to go for a swim in the pool at the back of the ship. The problem is the only way to get to it is to walk through the World Cafe and it was dinner time. We did it. While people were eating under the stars, we three women were swimming in the infinity pool! The ship got underway while we were in the water. We were still full from lunch so we skipped dinner and had peanut butter and crackers in the room.
‘we went to the entertainment at 9:00. The 4 young singers sang famous show tunes. They did a great job.. Early to bed tonight. We have to be ready to go on a tour by 7:15!
‘Photos; the boat we were in the fancy bungalow over the water. Some were huge! our boat guys singing, the two volcanic peaks that formed the island, a big sailboat that tours the islands, flowers on the sink in the ladies room at the cafe. We really enjoyed our day on Bora Bora and I got to speak some French-a bonus for me.

Wish I were there to eat all your seafood including that Giant Shrimp! Haven’t they heard about ” half orders” of meals?
