A Face Only A Mother Can Love

We were at Komodo Island today. It was very hot and humid, our life for the next several days. We were told to bring an umbrella to protect from the sun. I took mine and used it. I also wore a hat and had a bottle of water.. We walked along a boardwalk with our guide who told us about the island. It is a National Park in Indonesia. The animals are not fed. They must survive on their own. There are deer, monkeys, water buffalo and wild boar on the island. We finally saw a young dragon walking across a dirt area. We saw a deer and water buffalo also. We walked around the museum building and saw several adult dragons…sleeping in the grass. It was difficult to see them and they looked like big logs laying in the grass. Actually, a mother doesn’t love the young, they are cannibals and will eat their young. So the young one we saw was quickly walking across the open area for his safety. We went through the museum , it was relatively cool. Then we had some free time for the gift shop, naturally. We walked back to the pier for the tender ride back to the ship.
‘I was pretty hot and went to the pool right away. Bunny took a nap. The pool water was like a bath tub. The water level was pretty high. I was on my tiptoes and it was up to my neck. I didn’t stay in very long but it helped cool me down to dry off in the warm air with a slight breeze.

There were 8 of us at dinner. Good food and good conversation was had by all. Then we went to the Theater for the evening’s entertainment. It was a great show. The young singers, the cruise director, and the Assistant director sang as well as the Johnny Cash singer. I don’t know how they’ll top this show.
‘Photos; morning from the balcony is above. Below is the young dragon and a couple of the sleeping guys under the trees. There is a photo of a deer, a lighthouse and a statue that was on the pier. As well as a sunset shot off the balcony before we went to dinner. On to Bali tomorrow. It sounds so exotic, doesn’t it?
