At Sea Again
This is our first of 4 days at sea on the way to Cabo San Lucas. Bunny had a bad night, fighting the cold I gave her. She had a board meeting on Zoom, so she decided to spend the day recuperating in the room. I feel very guilty giving her my cold. She seems to have it worse than me.
We had a tour of the bridge scheduled. I went. It was very interesting. A lot of what was said went over my head. Our guide was Richard, a young Norwegian sailor. After high school he went into the Navy and was assigned to the Royal Yacht. He said he was proud and honored to serve his King and Queen. Then he went to college and studied navigation. Then went to work for Viking. He was a very impressive young man. He said it could take over 20 years to become a captain. He didn’t aspire to that because it meant dealing with bureaucracy.
‘He took us to the starboard wing to show us the equipment. There are wings on both sides but the port side was off limits to us. He also showed us the Master of the Watch who sat in the big chair in the center of the bridge. There was also a man who spent his day walking along the windows looking out for anything that might occur.
I didn’t play Baggo today but I went to Team Trivia. Then we went to the brunch buffet. It was beautiful with carved fruits. It was mostly seafood but I found a carving station that was out of meat. I waited a few minutes, no beef. So I went to the pasta station-they were out of pasta. So I had half a bagel with cheese and 2 chocolate desserts!
A couple on our trivia team invited me to play Euchre with them. It’s been a long time since I played Euchre but it came back pretty quickly. From there I went to the photography lecture, then stayed for a lecture on Central America. Both good sessions. Back to the room. Bunny was feeling much better. We had room service dinner and watched a movie, Battle of the Sexes, the story of Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs tennis match. Another busy day at sea.

Full day – I would have loved the seafood – you are going to be very knowledgeable
about the ship by the time you come home
