Dinner by the pool
Today was mostly a normal day, art, Trivia, cards. Bunny spent some time on the computer. After cards, I met some friends at the pool on the back of the ship. It’s an outdoor pool, not too big and it was heavenly. The temperature was perfect, I kept the waves to my back so I didn’t get seasick. It was a great way to cool off.
‘Tonight was a surf and turf dinner by the main pool. They opened the roof, removed all the lounge chairs and set up tables for 400 people. We were served 3 courses-Romaine lettuce leaves standing in a bowl with a crisp cracker and Caesar dressing on the side. It was to be shared. Our friend Beryl was served first. The rest of us hadn’t been served by the time she finished. It finally arrived just as we were asking a chef who happened by. I gave away my surf which was a large shrimp. The steak underneath was tender and very tasty. It came with a potato on the plate. On another board there was a ramekin of macaroni and cheese, creamed spinach and a very tiny salad. For dessert there was Bananas Foster which was very good.
‘There was a guitarist playing during dinner. He was very good. He’ll be playing later in the small lounge so we’re going to see him there in a bit. It was nice to be eating outside on a very balmy evening. We had the moon on the port side and sunset on the starboard side and only one star visible in the sky. It might have been Venus but I don’t know about the sky south of the equator.
Photos: I enclosed the cover of my pop up card. It has the equator being crossed by the Viking Neptune with a little crossing certificate. I also put in a picture of my dinner plate. The top photo is the sparkling ocean outside our cabin. You’ll see the moon and sunset taken through a wet window. Beryl took a picture of us from the other end of the pool. She called it The Hedgehogs because we were behind the artificial hedge. Beryl is the lady beside Bunny in one of the photos. Ben, her husband is one of the hedgehogs.
‘Tomorrow is Bora Bora. We have an open air truck tour in the late morning and a sunset cruise at 5:00. Hope to get some good photos. Au revoke mes amis! Goodnight, my friends.

Very nice pics – the ocean shots are beautiful
Always look forward to your accounts, and pics, of “roughing it” on the high seas!
