First Day At Sea

Today was tour the ship day. I can’t say I’ve learned my way around yet but I have 137 more days to figure it out. We had a light breakfast in the buffet, then headed off to the guest services to ask questions. I put myself on a wait list for class in batik later on during the trip. We looked through the shops. Not your run of the mill souvenir shops. Jewelry, clothing, more jewelry, and a little corner for necessities you might want.
‘We found the salon and made appointments for hair and nails-got to keep up with our beauty regimen! We played trivia with a couple who wasn’t interested, so they said, but they were pretty good. We didn’t win but I never expect to. We found a little snack bar for a light lunch. They were long skinny sausages on a tortilla. They put mustard on them, so I was trying to eat around it and dropped it on the carpet. I wasn’t too embarrassed.
We found a huge jacuzzi so went and got our suits and had a soak. I’ve never seen such strong jets of water. If you didn’t hold on to the rail, you’d be propelled across the pool. It was very relaxing. Unlike American locker rooms with private changing areas, it was wide open. When in Rome…….

They had a contraption that sucked the water out of your suit. Very clever..it didn’t dry it but you weren’t carrying a wet drippy suit back to the room.

We had an invitation to attend a reception for the world cruise people. It was in the theater. We received a glass of champagne as we entered. The cruise director, a lovely Irish, lass introduced the Captain and the rest of the crew. The entertainment group sang some songs-just 4 people and a 4 piece band. Guess there won’t be any production shows. It was a nice 45 minutes.
‘Then we headed to the restaurant for dinner, along with the other 200 people in the reception. As we waited in line, we struck up a conversation with 2 retired nurses from the Riverside, CA area. We asked them to share a table. Then when we got to reception they asked if we wanted to share a larger table, so we did. It was a lively group.and we got along well. We ordered, and waited, and waited and waited for our food. The wait staff, including the head waiter, apologized profusely, but we still waited. Finally the food arrived. We decided it was because so many people showed up at once, or maybe our order got lost. It was good food and we enjoyed the company.

‘Tomorrow we’ll be in Cozumel, Mexico so I will have some interesting photos for you. At least I hope I will. It’s hard to believe it’s Christmas, but I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

I almost forgot, we returned to our room to find a Viking Neptune jacket and tote bag. I’ll include photo tomorrow. I forgot to put in my media file. We were very impressed.
