Glad to be back

I’ve had problems trying to get online the last two days. We are still at sea-finishing day 4 of 7. We’ve been to art, trivia, cards, and the pool. We’re having a Five Crowns tournament in the card room. There are 21 people participating. First prize is dinner and drinks in the restaurant of your choice on board the ship. Something we get every day, so not a big deal. We’re just playing for the fun of it. Bunny is the leader today with the least points. I’m somewhere in the middle. We get to throw out our 4 highest scores.
‘Trivia has been about the same, we score about half the available points. But we keep plugging away. There is a contest on the ship to make a memento of something meaningful that’s happened aboard ship or on excursions. We are making one that has to do with trivia, since that’s how we all met. We are meeting tomorrow to put it all together. It’s due on Friday. I’ll send pix when it’s done. We don’t think we’ll win, but it’s been fun working on it.
‘Today was a special day. We passed Null Island, which is not really an island. As the name suggests, it’s nothing, or zero degrees latitude and zero degrees longitude. That’s where the equator crosses the Greenwich Mean Time line. There is a buoy on that spot, but it’s on a 3 mile long rope holding it down, so it can move quite far from the actual point. I did take a screenshot of my compass reading 0 degrees N and 0 degrees E. Pretty cool. They launched one of the life boats and had everyone stand on the starboard side of the ship and they took our picture. We took pictures of them taking pictures. We got a certificate saying we are Emerald Shellbacks. If you haven’t crossed the Equator, you are a Pollywog. Once you cross, you are a Shellback. If you cross it 4 times you are an Emerald Shellback. We have crossed the Equator several times on this trip. And I have crossed it twice before on other cruises.
‘I’m including a photo of one art project I can actually use. We made a glasses case from heavy felt. It’s in my purse holding my sunglasses.

Photos: part of the gang looking for the missing buoy, working on the project, sunrise, sunset, glasses case, and screenshot of Null reading on compass.
‘I’ll be back when the cards tournament and Mememto contest is over in a couple days.
