I’m tired!!!
My flight was at 5:40 on Tuesday, 18th. I arrived in Paris at 1:30 on Wednesday, 19th. I had an upgraded seat but still not enough to stretch my legs. I could just feel them clogging and swelling..
I watched Superman. It was ok, not great. Then I tried to sleep, but the crying baby and barking dog and people getting into the overhead, made it hard to do. I would just doze off and would hear something to wake me up. I finally gave up and watched Layla Land again. I liked it just as much as the first time.
Finally, an hour before our early arrival, they served eggs and said hurry up and eat so we can clear the the breakfast service. So I did.
After getting off the -lane. I started the long, long walk to immigration. Luckily it wasn’t busy but I had to stop a couple times to catch my breath. It felt like it was a mile , it probably was only a half mile. I made it through with no problems. They don’t even check the luggage anymore. I picked up my bags and went out to meet my driver. Because we got in early, he wasn’t there. I waited a few minutes and found him. I greeted Jim in
French and we had a short conversation in French. My vocabulary has mostly left my brain so it was very simple. He was a quiet driver which was a good thing because he liked to change lanes with no warning. I got to the hotel which is near the Arc de Triomphe. I got to the room, only to have the key not work!. I was barely standing and had to go back down stairs to get that fixed.. Then I went to the wrong floor, had to go back to the lobby to get an elevator to my floor. You have to choose the floor and then it will tell you which door to wait for. It took a couple rides to figure that out. I finally got in the room and collapsed but didn’t sleep. Verna, my roomie, arrived about a half hour later. We chatted a bit then went to Betty and Rudy’s room for a short visit. We were all hungry so decided to start walking and find a -place. As we turned left to walk, Betty said want to see the best restaurant in Paris? I looked up and saw a pub called The Canadian Embassy. We walked in and it was busy. We decided stay and eat but had to wait til 6. A perfect opportunity for the Canadians to have a beer, not me. I had water, boring but I don’t like beer. We ordered dinner, I had a very Canadian quesadilla. Everyone enjoyed their food. We walked back and now I’m sending this. I will finish and shower, then hit the hay. My roomie,Verna, is quite the planner so she has our 4 days blocked out. I hope I can keep up!
I took a few pictures on the car ride from the airport. Not a beautiful ride but some interesting shots. French graffiti, some fall color, not much, a kiosk with rental bikes. And the view from our window-the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. I also got a picture of the tower with the lights flashing.
Noe I can shower and get to bed. Looking forward to a fun day tomorrow..
I’m having technical difficulties up loading the photos. Sorry. I’ll post them tomorrow.
