Restful Sea Days
When we returned from the India trip we were greeted by the housekeeping staff lined up to welcome us back. I saw Tedhi, our steward and gave him a big hug. It felt so great to have such a welcome. We were all very tired after a 2:00 AM wake up, long lines at the airport, a 5 hour flight and 1 hour bus ride back. We went to dinner that night and I couldn’t tell you what I ate. We were so tired.
But now we’ve had a few days rest and we’re ready to see South Africa tomorrow. I took some photos of us relaxing and recouping our energy. We had an art class where we made beaded necklaces, bracelets and earrings. We also painted mandalas on tote bags and wove a little posey basket. More to come on our next sea day. We played cards, I lost- again. Last night we had a comedian/magician. He was pretty bad. He thought he was being funny by picking people out of the audience and insulting them. We won’t go see him again. The night before we had a great show by one of the 4 Viking singers, Lois. This is her first job ever and she’s fabulous. She’s only 22 and has a great career ahead of her.
Tonight we had a special Italian family style dinner in the Restaurant. There were 4 appetizers and 4 main dishes followed by cherries jubilee. It was delicious. At 7:30 all the food staff paraded around the dining room to cheers and applause from all the diners. It was a thank you dinner to all of us who stayed aboard and didn’t leave when the itinerary changed. They really outdid themselves. We appreciated it. There were 12 of us, so we divided up in to a men’s table and a girl’s table. That was fun. I have photos of the men but not us girls. Somebody else has that one on their phone. Our entertainment tonight was a man who sang rhythm and blues. He was very good. We’ll go back to see him. Tomorrow is our first safari. I hope we get to see lots of animals.
Photos: I think I forgot the monkey photo from the Old Delhi pedicab tour, so here it is, our reception line upon our return to the ship, a beautiful cloud shot off the back of the ship, 2 shots of us hanging out by the infinity pool at the back of the ship around 4:30-5:30 every day. It’s a great place to be and we’re the only ones there. I hope nobody else discovers it! That’s Karen, the dining room hostess who knew all our names and room numbers by the first week of the cruise. She’s a wonderful young lady and is working her way up in the system. Next is the guys at dinner and another sunset shot.
‘I hope I have a good report and photos tomorrow. The weather is not looking too good. Fingers crossed we get to see animals.
