Sailing the Coral Sea
I went to a cooking class this morning. The menu was trout salad, pork loin with slaw and pineapple upside down cake. We did all the chopping to make the meal. Our chef showed us the correct way to make julienne carrots and apples. How to get skin off garlic, how to juice a lemon. It was a good learning experience. Since I don’t eat fish, he made me a Mediterranean salad. We didn’t do much with the dessert. The pastry chef whipped up the ingredients, then went on his merry way. It was baked in individual ramekins and served already plated. I missed Trivia because of the cooking class. Since it was so hard last time, he made it easier and everyone scored well. We went to a Port Talk about Cairns. It looks like a nice city but we won’t see it. We’re on a boat ride over the reef. They will stop at a platform and people can snorkel. We will choose the glass bottom boat. But that’s 2 days from now. Tomorrow we go to Whitsunday Island, which is a group of 74 islands. All are national parks.
‘Before dinner, we went to a lecture by a ship’s pilot. He’s one of the guys who board the boat and bring the ship into port. He will be on our ship til we leave Australia. Very interesting talk.
We are not going to see the entertainment. It’s the guitarist again and we weren’t too thrilled last time he appeared. We’ll go meet our friends in the Explorer’s Lounge for awhile.
‘Photos: I promised city views of Brisbane and a Queensland house.. maybe some more koalas , cuz they’re so cute!! I also put last night’s sunset.
