Sky Tower

We slept in this morning. By the time we thought about breakfast, both places were closed so we ordered room service. Doesn’t everyone have that choice? We are really getting spoiled. Bunny’s legs were walked out from yesterday so we took a taxi to the Sky Tower. We walked around the plaza trying to figure out how to get in. We saw a jumper land while we were walking. You can sky dive off the top. If you’re over 70, it’s free. We did not take advantage of that deal.
‘we had to go in to the casino across the drive and down an escalator to get to the entrance.. Then purchase our tickets at a kiosk instead of from a real person. I hate that! We got in an elevator and were whisked to the Observation Deck. Since it’s Sunday, it was very crowded. There was also another cruise ship in town. We found our way up to the next deck where there weren’t so many people. We got some nice photos from there. Then we went down to the bar level. It was nice to be able to sit and enjoy the view. We ordered a cheese plate to share and drinks-Coke for me and Chai tea for Bunny. We came down to street level and got a taxi back to the ship. We walked around a bit before we got on. There was a shop selling New Zealand wool items. They are beautiful but not something I’d need in SoCal. Many a honey is a big deal here. We got some honey moisturizers and I want to get some honey to take home. It’s called Manuca, not many a honey. Spell check again!

we went to a Port Talk on the port we’ll see in two days. Then there was a lecture by the guy we really like. His lecture tonight was on J. R. R. Tolkien and the Lord of The Rings books and movies, which were filmed in New Zealand. His topics are interesting and funny. We had dinner in the Cafe, watched the sunset you see above, then went to the theater for the show. The man was a pianist and played rock and roll songs. He was excellent. We were all clapping and singing along. Our cruise director said she’d been bungee jumping earlier in the day. As we walked out I heard her say she had pictures of it on her phone. So we asked to see them. She jumped off a bridge and took a dive into the ocean. They messed up her video so they said she could get it for free or go again…she went again!

Photos: Bunny and I having a cheese plate at the Tower. Largest marina in the world, according to our bus driver yesterday..it’s not the only one. They are everywhere. The War Museum we visited 2 days ago., Sunday boating, view of downtown area, the ferry building. Goodbye Auckland. When we got back to the room, we each had a little stuffed Kiwi on the bed. Will show a pix tomorrow.

Keep enjoying your time “down under”! You girls are certainly getting spoiled….does this mean that I ‘ll have to light your torch & carry your jewelry pieces to the pickle, Marty? I’d be happy to!
