So Near, Yet So Far

we are currently circling off the coast of Agadir, Morocco. The winds have been at gale force all day. The pilot couldn’t even get on the ship because the seas are so rough. The forecast is for the wind to die down this evening and we should be able to dock. It’s almost 10:00PM and we’re still circling. Who knows where we’ll wake up in the morning. It’s too bad we are so delayed. There was an overland 2 night trip to Marrakech that was supposed to leave at 6:30 PM. Don’t know if it’s still on or not. It’s 4 hours there by bus, with an 8 hour tour tomorrow. Then the next day they were to meet the ship in Casablanca. As with the South Africa stops, weather played havoc with the safari trips and many were canceled.

So we treated today like a sea day and had art, trivia and cards. We went on the back deck to watch us go into port around 4:00, and watched us circling instead. The coastline looked very hazy because of all the sand blowing. I was the lone American sitting with 7 Canadian friends. I finally said I didn’t have the stamina like they did and went back to the room and out of the wind. We had dinner tonight with Nancy and Gene from the trivia group. We ate in the Italian restaurant. The chicken Parmesan was good. Then Bunny and I played a couple games of slider. We each won one. Then Betty and Rudy came along. Betty played a game with us and blew us out of the water! She is very fast at the game. Instead of the scheduled local Moroccan entertainment, we got the movie Casablanca. We didn’t go. Hopefully we can watch it in the room.

Not many photos: the rough seas, Agadir from afar, and sunset through the curtains since I couldn’t go outside tho get it!
