Two days of rest
We had a couple days to relax after 6 straight days of ports. This seeing the world is hard work!
We have a new art teacher. She taught us quilling yesterday. It’s the are of rolling long, narrow strips of paper into coils and making designs with them. We made a card yesterday. Today we did some origami. We folded paper into a frog, a balloon and made a box with a lid. They were both fun projects. I had made the boxes before but it’s been so long I had to relearn it.
We did our usual 20 points in Trivia. We can’t seem to get much better. We don’t really care about winning, it’s just fun to get together every day at noon. We played cards today. I was at the Euchre table and Bunny won at Five Crowns.
‘We are both running short of cash. We didn’t plan well and didn’t realize we’d need money for so many tips for guides and drivers, and of course, the markets. A few take credit cards but many don’t. They will take US dollars, of course. When we asked about getting US cash a few weeks ago, we were told they couldn’t help us. Now they are telling us, they will charge money to our shipboard account and give us cash. So we will be able to pick it up tomorrow. That makes us feel much better with the Overland India trip coming up next week. We also have a problem with all the canceled excursions from the itinerary change. They credited Bunny’s credit card for both our excursions. That means she’d have to pay me from her bank for a credit on her card. Doesn’t seem fair. We finally talked to the head Purser this evening. He said it was done by the main office in California. He would email them and ask them to rescind the credit to her and either give us shipboard credit or credit both our credit cards. It’s taken us over a week to get this far. We just had to be persistent. It meant going to Guest Services a couple times a day for over a week.
No show tonight, but a great lecture by our favorite lecturer. He talked about The Bridge on the River Kwai, movie and the actual history of the bridge.
‘Not many photos tonight. The top one is a telephone pole in Phuket, Thailand. That’s just the communication wires. The electricity wires are higher up. This wasn’t one of the worst ones. There is a shot of the lighthouse that was near the memorial where we went the other day. There is a photo of my quilling and a far away shot of the largest Buddha in the country.. I forgot a photo of a beautiful sunset last night. I’ll put it in tomorrow.
